Some of these "rumours" are getting silly. I mean why would Celtic give us Griffiths on loan? The very idea is nuts! Then there's Scott Allan who's more likely to be moved on rather than loaned out. How long has he left on his Celtic contract anyway? That leaves Hibs with no chance of paying his wage demands. As for Celtics offer for John? It now seems obvious they are willing to wait and get him on a pre contract. 4m or nowt? A no brainer if JohnS told them he wants to pull on the Celtic shirt.

That's Rodgers saying he expects the McGinn deal to go thru in the next few days. They must have a deadline for the CL anything around £2.5Mill ( £3Mill would be grea ) and SA will do for me. I've read that LD is prepared to go to £600K for McLaren, which is all well and good, but the wages might be a problem.

I agreed with you yesterday Big L and now Rodgers has more or less publicly declared McGinn will be a Celtic player very soon (before Euro deadline) with Allan heading in our direction. Makes perfect sense for both clubs and the players providing we get some decent coin to fund our other primary targets namely McLaren as you stated.

A mid field 3 of slivka Allan and Mallan appeals to me, I'm not saying they are better than McGinn and McGeough but I think their are more goals in them. I would like to see McLaren arrive but I'm not that bothered because I think this could be a big season for Oli Shaw.

Stevie Mallan will be a really good signing for us, but I don't think he is a direct replacement for McGinn should he go. I think he will play the McGeough or possibly the Scott Allan role, that's if Celtic price him to high for us. Which leaves us light in mid field. A great signing tho, I remember his 25yrd free kick over the wall to beat Marciano. Nice to have a free kick expert, csn't remember the last one.

Completely agree Big L, Mallan will prove to be a great bit of business. Lennon has targeted him since taking over at ER such is his admiration for the boy, hence the four year deal. Completely different player to SJM, very similar type to Scott Allan but they are good enough to be able to play in the same side if we can secure the latter. With SJM likely to move to Celtic with SA being part of the deal I wouldn't be surprised if this meant more game time for Bartley or Whittaker in the defensive midfield area allowing Mallan and Allan to try and unlock the opposition's defence. I expect Slivka to be more prominent this season in the starting line-up after Dylan's departure. It wouldn't shock me if Mallan eclipses Dylan!

The two mentioned scored a handful between them, great players tho they were. The player I liked the most in that era was wee Latapy, what a touch. What a football brain. You have to wonder how much he would be worth at todays transfer levels. He was absolutely immense in the 6-2 humbling of the great unwashed. I was trying to work it out, they must have a squad of 34 players call the administrators, again!

To answer your question Tomo, I would imagine their wages would lead to a reduced lump sum to Hibs. Their are rumours all over the place, some saying McGinn definitely not going to Celtic others saying he is. The offer I heard was £2.7Mill plus SA and Lewis Morgan for 6 months. I know their was an enquiry for Hooper and that Lenny would love to get him. I just wish something would break, 2 weeks to the Euro game.

The McGinn/ Celtic situ has got me wondering if McGinn has made it clear that they are the only club he will consider. I say this because their appears to be a distinct lack of interest from other clubs. If that's the case then Hibs position is pretty weak and that's why Celtic think they can make the kind of grotty offer they made. Let's face it, time is on Celtic's side, they can play the long game. If McGinn doesn't go this window they will get him for buttons at winter window. Their is also the fact that Hibs require the McGinn money to bring in a couple quality players. At this time Lennon would/ should be fighting our corner but prefers to keep a low profile. He was the one that said McGinn was worth £5Mill and his beloved Celtic offer £1.5. He won't want to upset the fans that he had a love affair with. He needs to remember who pays his wages.

Thought Slivka played well tonight as did Marciano, Bain obviously keeping him on his toes, no bad thing. Efe still causing havoc, getting caught on the ball to often. McClaren came on for last ten mins, looked sharp. We should have scored five tonight.

I think he's off, I hope I'm wrong! He has got a wee bit of a cheek but who can blame him. A player of his ability will pick up serious money being a free agent. I think we might lose the midfield three. McGinn will go if he doesn't sign a new deal and SA has a yr left on his contract wi Celtic. Enjoy them while we can, hope they take us to europe, might convince players to stay and good players to join.
