Celtic and rangers enquire about Allan

Rangers are seemingly putting a£850,000 bid in plus add owns that would take it to £1.1m over 2years I personally would now sell him to septic for £500.000 plus mcgeoch remember he is a Rangers fan lol

{Ed007's Note - Where's the team who currently play out of Ibrox getting that money? Hibs, along with a stack of other clubs, have told them any deals will be cash up front, that means the full fee and no add ons, until they know how many season tickets are sold or they get another loan they don't know their financial situation and what they can and can't afford. Hibs aren't going to sell Allan to anyone where there's a chance that they won't get their money.
As far as I know Celtic have never shown any real interest in Allan, he wouldn't get near our first team and we have a youngster called Aiden Nesbitt who at 18 is already a better player than Scott Allan is.
I would be amazed and disappointed if CFC bought Allan and especially so if it was any more that £200k, remember this is a player playing in the second tier of Scottish football, I'd maybe do a straight swap for McGeouch and loan Allen back to Hibs but any team that will pay anywhere near £1 million for him are off their head or desperate - so he might end up in Govan after all.}

Interesting post Ed

He wouldn't get near your team good one had to check date thought it was April 1st

{Ed007's Note - Who would he replace? Scott Brown? Johansen? Scott Allan is not good enough to get into Celtic's starting XI, if you think otherwise then more fool you, it's preposterous to think otherwise.}

I totally agree ed

{Ed007's Note - It's just the papers and media hyping him up to make it look like TRIFC are interested in decent players. When it comes to it he is just like Danny Wilson, it would have been a major risk any Scottish Premier side signing him, they're both unproven at a higher level than the Scottish second division. Even if I was say an Aberdeen fan I would't fancy going into Europe with Wilson or Allan in key positions. Although Danny Wilson will be kicking himself, he was expecting to be a Scottish Premiership player next season and made an arse of it, well his agent did.}

Well, i would much rather have Allan than Johansen at Hibs. Johansen would not get 18 assists for Hibs in Championship.

Anything could potentially happen to Allan when he leaves though. He could disappear like he did at West Brom or he could fulfill his potential in the EPL. He just needs the right manager.
Alex Neill wpuld probably get him performing but obviously I'd rather he stayed with us another year, even if it is bad for Scotland.

Currently, there are no players for Scotland that can do as good a pass as him. It's just whether he can feel confident when he moves to a bigger stage that's the issue.

If we sign a fast goal scorer up front, he could easily have 30 assists next season. He wouldve last year if our forwards didn't continuously miss sitters.

{Ed007's Note - You'd rather have Allan that Scotland's POTY? Hhhhmmmm I think only Hibs fans would agree with that. Remember you're in the second tier of Scottish football here and you're talking about a player going to play in the EPL? It's quite simple, if Allan was good enough to play at a higher level then he would be, looking decent in the Scottish second division is hardly an outstanding achievement is it?
As for Alex Neil, would have been interested in Allan is when he was at Accies and he might have fancied a gamble on him. You're putting the player on a pedestal because he plays for your team but in the bigger picture all Allan is is a player who had a half decent season in the second tier of Scottish football, you won't see many English teams beating a path to ER to sign him.}

If rangers keep buying quality ha ha like Danny wilson hibs have nothing to fear

How's Celtics youth policy going on I forgot you don't have one or use one CFC the vultures of Scottish football

{Ed007's Note - Are you feeling OK? Use one what?}

8.) 25 Jun 2015 19:47:48
Ed - you are absolutely on the button!! I think, if they do their research, they'd see that Billy King of Hearts had the most assists in the League. No one can pass a ball like Allan?! You mean try the same thing every single game?! Let's be honest here, and I'm sure a lot of hibs fans will agree, Scott Allan was non existent till January

{Ed007's Note - I'm not saying Allan is a bad player, he's a good Championship player but that's it and it'll be a real challenge for him to make the next step up, especially after failing before. To say you'd rather have him than Johansen is... well I don't need to say it do I?}

Well this thread looks like fun. Good arguments coming from both sides here, my opinions on it are this:
Scott Allan on his game would walk into any team in Scottish football bar Celtic (not to say he couldn't play for Celtic in years to come).

What needs to be remembered is the standard in the SPL isn't that great, he'd still do a job for most of the teams there. So EDs claim that he's no more than a good championship player I can't agree with.

At the moment his main issue is his naivety, he still wants to be the player that plays the world cup pass that unlocks the defence. He's more than capable of doing so but he needs to realise the importance of keeping possession at times too. Along with adding a few more goals to his game, that's what separates half decent attacking midfielders from good ones.

With regard to his price tag, as much as I'd love to see him stay unless we receive a bid close to £1M it's not happening. Regardless how good a player is if they play in the Scottish Championship you simply cannot ask for a sum of money that vast. Realistically if we get £500k for him we've done well. A move to Rangers would be going backwards, a move to Celtic would halt his progression and most probably he'd end up back at Hibs in 3 years the same player as he was when he left.

The best move for his development would be to stay at Hibs help us get promotion and stay for our first season in the SPL then assess his options, but unfortunately nowadays in football money talks.
