Heard murmurs of Burnley looking at both Malonga and Cummings, not sure how serious it is but they've had scouts at the past few games keeping an eye.

At least one more player in before the window closes it seems, with any luck its a decent quality centre half to partner Fontaine.

Murmurs are we are looking at Steven Anderson from St Johnstone

Even better then, if Fyvie signs it'll be a similar situation to Allan where he'll take a while to get back into the swing. Was a stick out in his aberdeen days though, another very shrewd signing by Stubbs if it goes through.

Keith Watson signed from Dundee Utd till the end of the season, this also happens to be when his contract expires and he's publicaly stated he doesn't want to stay at Utd. Very shrewd bit of business from Stubbs.

Brilliant business

2.) 28 Jan 2015 16:35:46
Agreed that Watson looks a good acquisition. I'm not sure we should have let Callum Booth go out on loan again, though. Or is there another defender about to come in?

3.) 28 Jan 2015 16:50:50
I've heard another defender may be coming mate look at my post below

4.) 28 Jan 2015 17:18:17
Supposedly Booth has been told he is surplus to requirements and will be moved on. Which strikes me as odd due to the fact he has been playing quite regularly recently.

5.) 28 Jan 2015 20:27:54
I agree, I like Booth and I'm a bit sad to see him shipped out, maybe they see young Crane who just signed a new contract as the next best thing !

6.) 28 Jan 2015 20:38:14
Booth has been culpable over they last few games. Especially against falkirk. He was at fault for 2 of their goals

7.) 28 Jan 2015 22:04:11
I quite liked Booth, but at the same time he has proved frail defensively. He's a squad player and one that I can't see much effect from if he comes off the bench. Hopefully we can make the Watson signing permanent come July.

8.) When will people stop criticising Booths defendsive abilities and realise he is a left winger! He should only play in defence if there's nobody else available.

It's wrong to be letting him go, considering there's been loads of players we eant rid of in recent years then we want to keep someone and they're being let go of!

How Handling can stay but Booth leave is beyond me. Booth could easily do better in Handlings role.

P.s who is our cover for LB now?

9.) 29 Jan 2015 17:20:29
I agree Booth would be better suited as a left sided wide player, but what use is that in the system we play ? We don't have wide midfielders, we give our full backs free reign in the wide positions. And the fact he cannot defend all but rules him out of a place in the team.

10.) 29 Jan 2015 19:44:12
Lordrog dead right about us not playing wide players, they have all gone, that's AS preferred system and to be honest it seems to be working!

11.) 19 May 2015 20:19:03
He could have been used as an attacking substitute.

Much better option than Handling. And the way Stanton and Harris have been playing he would be a better option than them too!

Well this thread looks like fun. Good arguments coming from both sides here, my opinions on it are this:
Scott Allan on his game would walk into any team in Scottish football bar Celtic (not to say he couldn't play for Celtic in years to come).

What needs to be remembered is the standard in the SPL isn't that great, he'd still do a job for most of the teams there. So EDs claim that he's no more than a good championship player I can't agree with.

At the moment his main issue is his naivety, he still wants to be the player that plays the world cup pass that unlocks the defence. He's more than capable of doing so but he needs to realise the importance of keeping possession at times too. Along with adding a few more goals to his game, that's what separates half decent attacking midfielders from good ones.

With regard to his price tag, as much as I'd love to see him stay unless we receive a bid close to £1M it's not happening. Regardless how good a player is if they play in the Scottish Championship you simply cannot ask for a sum of money that vast. Realistically if we get £500k for him we've done well. A move to Rangers would be going backwards, a move to Celtic would halt his progression and most probably he'd end up back at Hibs in 3 years the same player as he was when he left.

The best move for his development would be to stay at Hibs help us get promotion and stay for our first season in the SPL then assess his options, but unfortunately nowadays in football money talks.

Like to see Załuska come in, but he probably knows he could get an SPL team. Young lad Ross Laidlaw who was at Raith has just been released, was on loan at Elgin last season. Still young only 22 I saw him playing a few times and was impressed. Wouldn't be a first choice but would be a solid enough back up. Has all the attributes, big, vocal and actually commands his area rather well which is something we've missed in past keepers.

Dundee wanted Stanton permanently in exchange they would wave the compensation fee for Boyle but Stubbs said no, I imagine because he sees Stanton as one for the future, but a loan could be the best move for him. In time Stanton should be the player to fill the hole that will be left by Scott Allan when he does leave.

Thought Fontaine had already signed a 2 year a few weeks back. Ideally like to see a better keeper than Oxley too, if we got him back it's not the worst but need some competition.

LordRog

{Ed007's Note - Łukasz Załuska? Hibs were sniffing about him when there was a chance of promotion but would he be willing to move down a division?}
