Been told by a close relative of Jason Holt that he's been offered a deal by Hibs. He's deemed surplus to requirements by Caixinha and has been told to find a new club so no fee would be necessary. He also has interest from a couple of league 1 clubs in England but is in no rush to make a decision.

Jason holt has 3 years of a contract left but the Huns are willing to let him go for nowt! Neither wonder they have problems with their cash flow.

Not a bad player, will want a pay off and that's not going to happen.

Surely if he has 3yrs left and is told to find a club they'll expect any suitors to buy out the contract?

There's no way they can afford a payoff.

If he signed in 2015 which he did, he either signed another contract or extension since or he signed a 5yr initial contract! I don't remember hearing or reading either.

He did sign a new contract to 2020 and he will be on good money, why would he leave that kind of cash.

You'd think they'd try to use him to get Walker too if he's surplus.

ST's £4 Mill JC £1.4 TV £1Mill walk ups 3,000 £1.5Mill sponsorship, Cup semi share, cash for winning the Championship, total £9Millish! If McGinn goes £11Mill and we can't afford £500K for Moult! You won't get a really good striker who's out of contract, clubs don't allow classy strikers to get out of contract. You need to pay the going rate and that means that Hibs payment structure gets kicked in to touch when it comes to strikers that score goals! We've signed 3 players and although I'm not disappointed I'm not getting the wow factor. We need to bring in a name and the money IS there.

You left out the cost of the wage bill, the running costs of the club in general, and the debt repayment plan (which they'll likely try to pay off as early as possible if there's extra funds for it if they're sensible) .

We've had no word of anything regarding McGinn so knock that off too and it's considerably less than that.

Then there's shareholder dividends/ any bonuses owed too, and no club operates on spending whatever is available after expenses.

I have a feeling Lennon might have a target or two abroad he's looking at too, but that will be kept quieter and take longer.

With respect, I would have needed the accounts to see what the actual running costs were. Dividends, I woulfn't think their would be to much of that. If you can't run a club in Scotland on the piss poor wages that we pay on the income that we have and will bring in this season without investing in a decent striker then the games a bogey! The fact is, we are sitting around 11,500 ST's if they brought in a marquee signing they would probably sell another
2,000. Speculate to accumulate isn't a phrase I've heard at ER since the George Best signing. We live in hope 90.

I agree with you, there's still money there to spend. We won't commit any money from JC's transfer until it's done and dusted though, and I'm cynical after the last few decades of financial dealings, but if the figures you've listed are correct I'd expect Lennon to have all of the JC money to spend since it's not detrimental to our finances and as you said we haven't signed a bigger name besides Ambrose.

11.) 16 Jun 2017 09:45:44
That's JC agreed terms, so if your right 90 we should have the cash in shortly and we should maybe see a player or two coming in soon. The one thing that gives me hope is that Lennon won't be messed about the same way RP messed previous managers around.

12.) 16 Jun 2017 14:08:33
Hopefully so.
It could also be that Lennon isn't overly sold on what is around nearby and wants to spend on someone else he needs more money for.

There's a lot of the window to go, I doubt he'll rush anything just to bring bodies in.
